This week has been tough.
The company I work at, Slalom, laid off around 800 people across all locations because of a slowdown in business that never quite recovered from the pandemic, plus a lot of other mistakes and miscalculations by executives that added up over the years.
I myself was not let go, but my manager and many team members were. My heart and support go out to those on my team who were affected. I'm still in shock, and it's hard to find the words in difficult times like this.
In these moments, it’s important to know we are not alone. Even though our world may feel small at the moment, we do have our family, friends, old teammates, and community to rely on for support.
Which brings me to ask a favor of you.
To help those who are now looking for a job, please email or message me any job openings you know of related to UX design, content design, UX research, or product design.
I am on the global design team, so we have people from across the US who were laid off, so any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Friday Gems will resume next week.
Take care, and thanks for your support.

Uhg. I’m sorry to hear that news. We’ve all been there and my hearts go out to those affected. We recently had a RIF so I know how uneasy it makes everyone feel, even those that are still there. Hang in there….I’ll keep an ear to the ground.
Thanks Chris!. We’ve both been through layoffs before but the wounds never heal. I appreciate your support and help. Let me know if I can help in any way as well. Thanks!
