💎 How To Be More Confident
Stop saying, “I’m not confident enough to try that.”
Start saying, “I’m scared to try that, but I’m going to anyways, because I know it will make me confident.”
You know the little voice in your head tells you you can’t do something because you’re not sure, or you’re afraid, or you don’t have the skills.
Well, it’s time to kick it to the curb. This voice will present a million reasons for you to stay on the fence and be comfortable with not gaining confidence and always being on the sidelines, afraid to take risks.
The only way to gain the confidence you need is to try. Yes you may fail but it’s time to look at failure from a different lens. Instead of seeing it as a bad thing to be avoided at all costs because it may embarrass you or bring you shame. What if you looked at it as a stepping stone to get to where you need to go to reach your goals? Think of failure as a checkpoint to gather data about what works and what doesn’t.
If we looked at failing as a positive step instead of a negative consequence, I believe we would be more open to trying more, experimenting more, learning more, and, as a result, growing and building our confidence more.
So the next time that sneaky voice pops up to keep you from taking action, tell it’s who the boss is and be open to trying and learning from whatever the outcome may be.

💎 The Thing Is
by Ellen Bass
to love life, to love it even
when you have no stomach for it
and everything you’ve held dear
crumbles like burnt paper in your hands,
your throat filled with the silt of it.
When grief sits with you, its tropical heat
thickening the air, heavy as water
more fit for gills than lungs;
when grief weights you down like your own flesh
only more of it, an obesity of grief,
you think, How can a body withstand this?
Then you hold life like a face
between your palms, a plain face,
no charming smile, no violet eyes,
and you say, yes, I will take you
I will love you, again.
Those moments when we are down and our life is crumbling away right before our eyes are the moments when the ego has been stripped away, and the fronts we have been putting up have shattered to pieces. It’s at that moment we can choose to build back up and recommit to ourselves and experiencing our beautiful life with all the pain and joy.
💎 Cloudspotting
I love the message by
in his comic Cloudspotting. In a world that tells us who we should be and what we should look like and which group we need to belong to and what we need to think, being proud of who we are, just as we are, is liberating.
💎 Gem of Wisdom
“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.”
- Nietzsche
