This week's question is about books. I started reading the second edition of "Design is a Job" by Mike Monteiro. I read the first edition of this book 10 years ago, and it made a big impact on me as I was starting out as a UX designer. The book gave me the confidence and the courage I needed to believe in myself, belief in my ideas, and in how I interacted with my team and my clients. There are a handful of books that I stand out for me as being impactful in my career, which brings us to today's question:
💬 Which book has significantly impacted your career or life? Plus points for sharing an excerpt that you love.
The book "Design is a Job" by Mike Monteiro helped me become a designer. It helped me realize the importance of the work I was doing and it gave me the confidence to do it well. Here are a few excerpts that helped me.
"A designer needs to have a point of view. You need to care about the shit you’re working on and the effect it’s having on the people and planet around you while both of those things still exist."
This is the essence of the book. Designers are not pixel pushers, they need to approach their work with a point of view on what will deliver the best outcomes. They need to do the work to make the results happen.

The book that really impacted my career was Event Design Handbook, as it was my first introduction to the power of design thinking. The book takes a general perspective on the word event to meaning any interaction of two or more people. The book introduces design thinking as part of a larger framework, but inspired me to explore more into the topic and ultimately find a career path.:
The ultimate value of an event is realizing change. It takes aligning with multiple perspectives to be able to do so.
That’s a great way to look at interactions, whether 1:1 or 1:Many since we are changed as a result of both. It’s interesting how books can change the course of our lives as well. Thanks for sharing, Adam!

This book sounds like a must read, so it is going to be my next audible book to read.
